Living and working full-time in Scotland, and having done a bit of volunteering in the past in other places, I wanted to find things to do on my days off which were good for nature and that I enjoyed, as well as spending time with like-minded folk. Then, the task was tiresome searches of web pages and social media feeds. So in April 2017 I started Conservation Scotland, a central website where organisations can add their own nature-based events independently and people looking for things to do can view all opportunities pooled together into a single calendar, which can even come direct to your email inbox. No online searching needed, leaving you to #getoutside and do something good for nature. Oh, and it’s free and open to all.
Looking for something to do this weekend?
Practical conservation activities, training and volunteering days in your local community. Not just at the weekend. Check the calendar, save the date and join in.
ARE YOU A GROUP OR ORGANISATION LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS OR PARTICIPANTS?
Join the growing network of groups sharing nature-based events and opportunities with Conservation Scotland. Personal login to easily manage your own posts and reach new audiences through web, email and social media. If it is free, open to all, and good for nature, we can help you share it!
We want to know if Conservation Scotland has helped you to participate in nature-based activities. In 2019 we are looking for 52 stories of your journeys from viewing the event online, to getting out and taking part. Your review can be in any format suitable for public sharing online, such as a picture, written story or video. Get creative and email your story to email@example.com.
